I think search engine results should be displayed as rows, a page full of rows. A list looks biased. Rows would allow a lot more sources to be seen at the same time. It would be harder to look biased with a lot of sources displayed at the same time.

What can really compromise you is your sim-card, credit card, unlocked boot-loader, having no encryption on devices, maybe lack of security updates and most importantly your stupidity and laziness. If you're sitting with Tor on all the time, unsing only FOSS and installed some fancy distro it doesn't mean you're safe. You should think, adopt and build system. I'm saying it as guy who was arested by dictatorship in my country, so trust me, I know what I'm saying. Capitalism doesn't exist to create maximum efficiency - capitalism exists to generate more capital for the people who already have the most capital. It was founded by French aristocrats who wanted to avoid having their power given to the general populace during/after the French revolution, as they knew it worked against social & economic mobility and tended to stay relatively rigid. In a system where resources are distributed based on capital, and capital is a resource, a majority of resources/power accumulating in the minority of people is an inevitability.

I disagree that Linux is getting worse, however Linux needs one thing and one thing only, to be as good as Windows. Is Android hard to use like Linux? It's not. Do you know why? Because the Android store has every single thing, and every single thing from the Android store works.The problem with Linux, the stores are all over the place, there is no complete Linux store (repository). That's the problem. You can't expect a new user, to understand that they can't use certain types of Linux install files .deb for example, let alone how to download and install one from anywhere besides the store, because what they need can't be found on the store

One keyword that's very useful is google's 'before' / 'after' modifiers, which allow for filtering for date. e.g after: 2020-01-12 will only show hits from after the date specified. If I'm genuinly searching for something, I often write 'before: 201X' and iterate with the X. Combine with verbatim search and exclusions and you are good to go.

I have an idea... How about if your new to Linux don't use Arch Linux there problem is fixed. Manjaro is still Arch Linux no matter how you dress it up and is not mint for newcomers. Note Pamac isn't a package manager Just stick to ones more user-friendly Linux Mint, Fedora, Ubuntu, Deepin I also don't think making a better and more user-friendly UI makes Linux bad. Not everyone wants to use the terminal and that's OK for the most part you'll never have to. I have never used snaps and only ever used flatpacks 2 or 3 times in years of running Linux never had issues.
